A federal judge from Tocantins State conceded a new repossession order versus the Krahô-Kanela People.  With the submission of the first order (June 11), the Krahô-Kanela responded by taking hostage two judicial officials, who had arrived at the property to submit the notice.  Following negotiations on June 15, the officials were released and an official from the National Indigenous Foundation (FUNAI) was held in exchange.  He was released following the withdrawal of the repossession order.  A new order will soon be executed.  The Krahô-Kanela will remain in the area.  According to Aldereise Krahô-Kanela, the decision is to resist, "we will remain here, no one will leave.  My mother is 76 years old and she told us that she would prefer to die on her land than have to leave.

Alederise stated, that his People was willing to wait for the FUNAI to finish the necessary reports for the legalisation of their lands but hunger and FUNAI’s inattention forced them to make this decision to re-take the area.  "Our suffering is vast, we have experienced hunger and FUANI in Gurupi does not attend us." When we went to the city, FUNAI promised all the necessary assistance for our People.  But we were afraid to trade the countryside for the city.  However, we believed in what had been promised, but when we arrived we were not attended.
